'I find late summer to be a season of nostalgia,' says Laura Keeler Pierce Keeler & Co. 'There is a tension between yearning for endless warm days and welcoming the retreat that comes with autumn – the breeze is a little bit crisper, the days a touch shorter, and the warmth of the sun is not taken for granted. It's also a time of bounty in the garden and a time to rekindle friendships after lazy days of travel and adventure.'
'We are constantly stealing last dinners outside, lingering by candlelight in hurricane vases and staying to watch the stars,' adds Laura. 'We always have cozy wool throws on hand to cut the inevitable chill in the air as evening creeps in.'
'Decorating with plants needn't be limited to greenery. There are plenty of flowers still in bloom in the late summer months. 'Hydrangeas are my favorite this time of year,' adds Laura, 'their color shrinking from the blooms. I cut them guilt-free from the garden and fill the house with big bunches of them.'
