Conceived as a city pied-à-terre for a family who primarily resides on an island off the coast of Portland, Maine, this residence was reimagined as two distinct spaces designed to accommodate family life, entertaining, and work. The primary residence embraces a playful spirit with vibrant colors, layered patterns, flexible gathering spaces, and whimsical details that reflect the family’s personality and Maine roots. The second unit serves as a dedicated office and retreat, with a more tailored palette and urban influences inspired by the surrounding neighborhood. Together, the two spaces balance character and practicality, creating a thoughtful home base that celebrates the family's way of life and connection to place.
